Tyron Krost takes home a cool AUD $2 Million prize
The 2010 Aussie Millions Main Event came to dramatic conclusion last week with Tyron Krost successfully battling against 746 players over five days to grasp the title and a winners pot of $2 million AUD.
The 23 year old champion who hails from Sydney has kept the title in Australia for the second year straight following Stewart Scott's 2009 victory. But the odds at the start of play were not clearly in his favour. Eight players took their seats on the final day of play with Sorel Mizzi placed as the chip leader, with over 40 percent of the chips in play. Annette Obrestad made her way to the final table of the Main Event after finishing 21st in the same event last year and winning Event 4, the $1,100 pot-limit Omaha this year. Also at the final table were Peter Jetten, Kosta Varoxis, Steve Friedlander, Frederik Jensen, and Stephen Shelly.
Tyron Krost was blown away by his win saying “This is totally unbelievable – it is beyond my wildest dreams. If it is a dream, I don’t want to wake up! In total I spent $700 trying to qualify for a package and I have managed to turn that into AUD $2,000,000. I got some really good spots on the final table. When I needed a hand I seemed to get it. It just hasn’t sunk in at all how much money I have just won. I have no idea what I am going to with it. I cashed at the World Series in 2008 but nothing like this. I have to say well played to Frederik Jensen. He is an excellent player. It is fantastic that when it came to heads-up there were just two Party Poker qualifiers left.”
Last years winner was Australian Stewart Scott who is a Team PartyPoker player who also won his seat while playing online at Party Poker.
Stewart Scott commented on Tyron Krost victory saying “I’m delighted for Tyron and I can honestly say I know what he is feeling like right now – it takes your breath away.”
